Senior Accountant will provide financial support to the Corporate Accounting group and is primarily responsible for revenue recognition, percent complete calculation and additionally will provide assistance with corporate financial reporting, month end closing, income statement and balance sheet analysis.  The ideal candidate for this role must have experience consisting of audit of a service based company or revenue recognition for a service based company.  Additionally, they must be able to prepare reconciliations and perform detailed analytics.  Candidate must have strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of US GAAP principles. Knowledge of intercompany eliminations, consolidations and f/x gain (loss) is also ideal.

Responsibilities

  • Revenue Recognition will account for 50% of the workload, including review and percent complete.
  • Ensure company revenue recognition is in compliance with the new ASC standard 606.
  • Position will work closely with Finance leadership, billing leads and project managers to review revenue and project profits.
  • Reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close to ensure accuracy and validity of accounting transactions and company books and records
  • Prepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principles
  • Timely preparation of management reports and other ad-hoc reports
  • Prepare detailed analytics of accounts
  • Provide support to other groups within the accounting organizations
  • Work with external auditors, as needed
  • Additional assignments as may be assigned by management
  • Participate in special projects, as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA designation or in progress is a plus for this role.
  • 3+ years of experience consisting of audit of a service company or revenue recognition with in a service company is a must. Candidates without this experience will not be considered.
  • Previous experience in construction, architectural design or engineering is a highly preferred.
  • Experience with Vision Deltek is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office products including Excel.
  • Effective time management skills.
  • Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy.
