    This newly created position, Project Controller will be the point person for all accounting and finance needs at a project level.  HKS has multiple projects ranging in scale and complexity across our global organization which is managed as a matrixed business, reporting at both a sector as well as geography level.  The Project Controller would be responsible for helping to establish consistent global processes that allow the team to partner with the business providing financial oversight while managing the profitability of each project.  This position will work across the organization interfacing primarily with project management providing trusted insight into the financial health of a project.  The primary focuses include: review of contracts, evaluating labor budgets and job cost, data reporting / analysis for management, budgeting / forecasting and revenue recognition following ASC 606.  The Project Controller will be responsible for training, developing, and managing the global project accounting staff.

    Responsibilities

    • Shows eagerness to learn the ins and outs of our projects to better understand and communicate financial reports and data in a meaningful way
    • Supports project teams decision making by identifying, quantifying, and communicating financial risks and opportunities
    • Leads project forecast reviews, utilizes historical and trending data to validate forecast, and follows Company standards for cost and revenue reporting
    • Manages employee performance, clearly communicates expectations and goals, and provides coaching and constructive honest feedback during employee performance reviews
    • Prepares client invoicing, manages accounts receivable and revenue, monitors and works with project managers on cash collections, and reviews project cash flow projection on a monthly basis
    • Reviews and understands contracts including any add services / change orders, insurance requirements, tax liabilities and payment terms
    • Follows and implements proper internal controls, and acts as main point of contact for any internal or external financial audits
    • Drives continuous improvement throughout the organization and is a proponent for positive change
    • Earns trust, credibility, and buy in of processes from project team to create better cohesion and clear communication within the organization
    • Displays first-rate customer service skills - willing to help with a positive attitude when/where needed, and be helped with gratitude

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or an equivalent degree
    • Basic working knowledge of accounting, including: general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax
    • Min of 5 years of financial/data analysis experience
    • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel
    • Previous project billing experience a plus
    • Effective communication (both oral and written), organization and interpersonal skills
    • Strong work ethic and eagerness to produce high quality results
    • Must be a self-starter and willing to build processes for this function
    • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
    • High level of professionalism and standards
