    The Benefits Specialist supports the overall administration and communication of the employee benefit programs at the corporate level. This role also responds timely to a high volume of employee inquiries, evaluates eligibility for benefits coverage based on policies, and regulatory guidelines to maintain accurate benefits-related records and enrollments and generates reports to process benefits plan billings and vendor requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • Effectively utilizes HRIS system to process and maintain all benefits administration including benefit enrollments, terminations, dependent changes and legally mandated benefit data.
    • Ensure compliance will all federal programs such as HIPAA, COBRA, Health Care Reform, etc.
    • Identifies, manages and resolves errors resulting from benefit administration, HRIS system and enrollment processes.
    • Serve as direct contact for questions regarding benefit eligibility and respond timely to all employee inquiries to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution.
    • Assists with annual open enrollment period each year including working with benefits broker. Arranges for distribution of materials from carriers; assists with communicating changes to employees. Processes changes within deadlines.
    • Processes monthly billings from insurance providers. Reviews billings for accuracy and advances for payment. Resolves discrepancies with carriers and payroll.
    • Conduct benefits orientation and training activities for new hires, managers, related to qualifying events, open enrollment, etc.
    • Maintains employee confidence by keeping benefit information confidential.
    • Serve as day-to-day contact for benefit plan providers to inquire and resolve benefits enrollment and eligibility issues.
    • Effectively utilizes HRIS system to run reporting for audits and manage benefits elections
    • Proactively identifies process improvements and work with appropriate persons to modify procedures as needed.
    • Prepares monthly benefit vendor invoices for payment.
    • Performs special projects and all other assignments efficiently and effectively.
    • Oversee wellness committee with planned initiatives and activities to increase wellness awareness and participation in efforts to reduce overall claims costs.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. College degree is preferred.
    • 3-5 years’ work related in benefits administration.
    • Knowledge of Leave Management is a plus.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability to work independently and with a team.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Strong computer literacy with HRIS and Microsoft Office programs including Excel.            
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
    • Experience with expats or international benefits is a plus.
